Copyright policy

 

1. In agreeing to publish their paper in nb!ict, author(s) grant nb!ict the exclusive license (a) to publish, reproduce, distribute, display and store the paper in all forms, formats and media, (b) to create adaptations, summaries or extracts of the paper, and (c) to make such editorial changes as may be necessary to make the paper suitable for publication.

2. By publishing their paper in nb!ict, author(s) also grant the right to publish the paper on the nb!ict website, and they grant any third party the right to use the paper freely as long as its integrity is maintained and its original authors, citation details and publisher are identified. The nb!ict copyright license (identical to the Creative Commons Attribution License) formalises these as well as other terms and conditions of publishing research papers.

3. Ownership of copyright remains with the author(s). They retain the rights to reproduce the paper in whole or in part after it has been published in nb!ict, provided that, when reproducing the paper or extracts from it, the author(s) acknowledge its prior publication in nb!ict. Likewise, a copy of the paper may be posted on the World Wide Web, provided there is a hyperlink from the paper to the nb!ict website www.nbict.net.

4. Authors are in no way permitted to sign copyright agreements with other publishers that will regard the original publication in nb!ict as illegal.

5. By signing the nb!ict license to publish agreement, author(s) warrant, that:

a) The paper is original, it has not formally been published in any other peer-reviewed journal, and it is not under consideration by any other journal. An earlier version of the paper may have been published as a ‘grey publication’ (e.g. working paper) prior to its publishing in nb!ict;

b) They are the sole authors and sole owners of the copyright in the paper. If the paper includes materials of others, the author(s) have secured the necessary written permissions from the appropriate copyright owner(s) or authorities for the reproduction in the paper and nb!ict of any text, illustration, or other material;

c) The paper contains no statement that is abusive, defamatory, libellous, slanderous, obscene, fraudulent, nor in any way infringes the rights of others, nor is in any other way unlawful or in violation of applicable laws (including without limitation copyright, patent or trademark laws);

d) All of the facts contained in the paper are true and accurate.
